Student Portfolio
A student portfolio is a collection of documents
and materials, which together highlight the strengths and achievements of
each and every student's educational career. The portfolio assists students
in reflecting critically on their learning. It provides an opportunity for
students to discuss their growth with peers, teachers, parents, employers,
and others. Student portfolios will be initiated in 9th grade, added to in 10th, 11th and 12th grade, culminating with a senior portfolio presentation as part of NCHS graduation requirements. Students will find the portfolio experience useful in job procurement and college admission. The development of individual portfolios is a school
wide initiative with teachers creating their own professional portfolios
as part of the teacher review process. (Student agenda sign-off for Freshman/Sophomore Year)

Senior Project The senior project is an opportunity for students to identify a topic or essential question of personal interest, to explore that topic, and thoughtfully share an understanding of the subject with others. It may build on work that is done in a class, on skills that have been developed, interests discovered, or a career one wishes to investigate. The project must exceed any classroom research assignment. Students are required to create something new; that is, to incorporate a synthesis component, as well as connect with an outside expert in the area of interest, and provide evidence of an interview. The project has three main parts, (1) Visual, (2) Oral, and (3) Written. A more detailed description along with resources may be downloaded below: |
