Podcasting
NCHS Social Studies teacher Mr. Michael Hall II, recently presented a session on Podcasting at the 2007 Illinois Connections Conference. Mr. Hall's presentation focused on specific instructional examples and how to incorporate podcasting as a learning tool into classroom instruction. View the complete article here.


Capitol Forum
Capitol Forum
The Capitol Forum program runs on a statewide basis and takes place in the classroom and at the state capitol. The centerpiece of the program takes place in the spring when 100 to 120 high school students from 20 schools come to their state capitol as class representatives for an all-day forum. Violence Prevention Week
The Interacting with Integrity Team initiated NCHS's first Violence Prevention Week. IWI students conducted a staff development session and shadowed students at a larger, more culturally diverse suburban high school. GPS in History, Geography, and Science
Newark High School Students share how they have used Global Positioning System and Geographical Information System device activities in history, geography, and science instruction. Bridging
Bridging the Disconnects
A consortium of 20 public and 10 private schools in partnership with Governor's State University, non-profit agencies, business and the Regional Office of Education has implemented a model of teaching that integrates technology in social studies and science with an emphasis on improving reading comprehension.
