Newark High School Choir recently hosted the Little 10 Choral Festival. It was held in the gymnasium at the school and it involved several schools- Serena, Paw Paw, Hiawatha, Leland, Lamoille, as well as Somonauk. The communities, and family members were encouraged to attend an evening performance. The schools were in attendance all day to practice their songs, as well as their single choir songs.

The guest conductor this year was Ellen Westerman. Mrs. Westerman is the choral director at Maumelle High School in Maumelle, Arkansas, and also teaches music in the Pulaski County Special School District. She is a dynamic choral director who specializes in working with young voices, connecting with them which inspires and brings out their best. We were blessed that she was willing and excited to work with us again.

The Little 10 Choral Festval was a great opportunity for the students to listen to the talents of other schools. It made for a very wonderful learning and social experience.
