Seussical the Musical
Newark Community High School’s spring musical Seussical the Musical is based on the children's book Horton Hears a Who written by Dr. Seuss with additional characters and scenes. The production is very energetic and entertaining, and is filled with reminders for us to "say what we mean and mean what we say". Seussical was performed in the spring of the 2012-2013 school year. Newark Community High School’s fall play Ricochet: Regret, Rewind, Redo was inspired by recent senior presentations on cyber bullying and relational aggression. The performance explores the menaces of aggression. From research, to casting roles and creating a script together, this play was an original production by NCHS Drama Club. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Newark High School's spring musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, is the story of a group of junior high kids who are competing for the coveted first place prize. This play is unique for Newark in that it utilizes volunteers from the audience as contestants. With mischief around every corner, you’re sure to have a good time. Our Town
Newark Community High School’s fall play Our Town, one of the most famous American plays by Thorton Wilder, follows the lives of people in small rural town called Grovers Corners located in New Hampshire. Through minimal use of sets and props, the audience learns just how beautiful life is and how much they may take it for granted. Our Town was performed in the fall of the 2010-2011 school year. Butterfly
I Never Saw Another Butterfly
Newark High School Drama Club presents I Never Saw Another Butterfly. This story stars a Jewish girl named Raja who was one of over 15,000 Jewish children who passed through Terezin, from 1942 to 1945. The title character teaches the children and gives hope in the concentration camp until liberation of the camp at the end of the war.
