Newark Drama Club Presents Seussical the Musical
Article by Sarah Bogden and Erin Turner
On May 3rd and 4th, the drama club will stage performances of Seussical the Musical in the NCHS gym.
Cast members have been working hard on the choreography and vocals for the lively show since January.
The play is based on the children's book Horton Hears a Who written by Dr. Seuss with a few additional
characters and scenes. The production is very energetic and entertaining for everyone. The creative costumes
and entertaining sounds are sure to leave the audience mesmerized.
Director's Notes: "It's been an exceptional year for Drama Club. Students wrote and performed a show to change the way people treat one another. In one month, they raised $10,000 (with the help of generous people who bought ads and attended our first Improv Night) to purchase microphones. This weekend in Seussical the Musical, the magic of both of those moments comes together in one production. Although the connection between Ricochet and Seussical the Musical may not be obvious, it is there. The production is filled with reminders for us to say what we mean and mean what we say. If we truly believe a person's a person no matter how small, we become the voice for all of the people who feel invisible. Even a sour kangaroo can have a change of heart when she realizes Horton was right all along. She just needs to hear the message. Tonight you will hear our message, but it's only because of YOU. Thank you for reminding us that we aren't alone in the universe. We are here, and we're glad you are, too." - Mrs. Wheeler |
