The drama club, under the direction of Mrs. Wheeler, has been preparing for performances
scheduled for November 2nd and 3rd by doing many things from researching bullying using
online resources, to casting roles and creating a script together. The title of the play is Ricochet:
Regret, Rewind, Redo. The drama club members arrived at the title by suggesting ideas, and then
they each voted for their favorite. This performance is something new for the acting troupe, which
has always produced a published play. It was inspired by recent senior presentations on cyber
bullying (Brooke Van Horne) and relational aggression (Rennita Jager). The drama club members
have now finished their research and have put their own script together. “We think it’s important to
avoid the stereotypes and to discuss the menaces of aggression,” Mrs. Wheeler said. After writing
the scenes, the students had to figure out how to assemble them in the best order. They chose
actors and actresses by having them volunteer to play the characters they felt more comfortable
playing. The fall play performances are scheduled for Friday, November 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. and
Saturday, November 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
