Radium Girls

The NCHS Drama Club presents "Radium Girls" Friday, October 26 & 27 at 7pm in the NCHS Gymnasium, $5 admission. This drama is based on a true story that hits close to home.
In the early 1900's Radium was a glowing substance that allowed soldiers in the trenches of World War II to see their watches with being seen. This miracle substance was also billed as the cure for cancer and surprising relief for all your health complaints. Factories in Ottawa, Illinois and Orange, New Jersey employed young girls to paint the glowing faces of clocks and watches without knowledge of the dangers of radioactive poisoning. Come witness this tragic time in history which dramatically changed workplace safeguards for all workers. |
