Newark Drama Club Presents Into the Woods
By Kyle Kozlowski & Rose Clapper
Newark, Il. -
What happens when a baker and his wife need Little Red Riding Hood's cape, Cinderella's slipper, Jack's cow, and Rapunzel's hair to break a spell?
Newark Community High School's spring musical explores the world of fairytales in its production of Into the Woods. This zany 90-minute comedy
takes a crew of familiar characters into the woods to make their wishes come true, but one wonders if they are certain that their wish is what
they want?
"We chose to do a junior version of the production. It has the entire flavor of the original show, but is condensed. I think the music is particularly challenging for our cast. So far, they've proven they are up to the challenge!" says director, Elizabeth Wheeler. This proves to be the most technically sophisticated production to date. A sixteen-foot tower for Rapunzel, an eight foot extension of the stage, and a full forest have kept the Technology Student Association busy applying their carpentry skills. "It's definitely a show that will make you laugh," says senior Kyle Kozlowski who is making his acting debut as Rapunzel's Prince Charming. Mark your calendar and join the quest into the woods on April 23rd and 24th, 2010. |
