This month will be the Drama Club production of the play Beauty and the Beast. It is April 27, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at $5. Drama Club members are all excited for everyone to come see
the play they have been working so hard on.
Lauren Hager plays the lead role of Belle. She said her biggest struggle with the play coming up is "nerves." Lauren said she is most excited about one of her costumes, "The yellow ball gown for the dance scene!" The biggest emotion Lauren has felt while learning the play was "happiness. I love my character and Belle has always been my favorite princess." Lauren said she is prepared, but she has one worry: "Blanking on stage but that has always been one of my biggest fears," she said. Another character everyone might recognize is Cogsworth, played by Brennen O'Toole. Brennen was asked if he could pick one famous person to see the play who would he pick? He answered with, "Celine Dion, since she sang songs for both the old and new Beauty and the Beast." Brennen said if Celine Dion was in the audience he would push everyone harder, " I would make sure everyone knew their lines, stage directions, and the songs perfectly. I wouldn't settle for second rate." Mrs. Wheeler said her biggest emotion is, "Pride. So many of the Drama Club members have grown this year, and we have some new faces involved, too." Finally, Mrs. Wheeler said she didn't have any fears for the opening night. Mrs. Wheeler said, "I always look forward to the opening night. By the time we get there, my work as a director is finished and the show belongs to the students. Dawn Schultz, Christy Hager, and Mindi Chase ensure everything runs properly behind the scenes and musically." |
